Ferdod Haghighi: A Fusion of Art, Life, and Social Commentary
From a young age, Ferdod Haghighi embarked on a lifelong journey of painting and designing, driven solely by his own passion and self-taught talent. His artistic inspiration is deeply rooted in the diverse tapestry of life’s experiences, encompassing both its beautiful moments and its profound tragedies.
Born in Tehran, Iran in the 1970s, Ferdod was raised in an artistic household. His mother, an English literature teacher, and his father, a professor at the University of Tehran, were both artists and avid collectors of contemporary art and antique rugs. Ferdod fondly recalls a time he refers to as the “beautiful years in Iran.” However, in 1979, the Iranian Revolution forced his family to flee their homeland. In 1980, Ferdod returned with his mother to claim their abandoned property, coinciding with the beginning of the Iran-Iraq War. These significant events have left an indelible imprint on his artwork, infusing it with depth and meaning.
Having grown up in Vancouver, BC, Canada, Ferdod now resides and works in Seattle’s historical Pioneer Square, alongside his Canadian wife, Karli Neale. Together, they established their design gallery and art studio in 2005, where Ferdod’s artwork is prominently displayed and sold to art enthusiasts. In addition to his paintings, Ferdod has gained recognition for his collaboration with Karli in designing custom bespoke handmade rugs.
Ferdod’s art reverberates beyond the walls of his studio and gallery, adorning the homes of numerous art collectors in Seattle and Vancouver, BC. His reach extends to the vibrant art scenes of New York and Los Angeles, with collectors in these cities commissioning his functional art work series. Through word of mouth or chance encounters at the couple’s Pioneer Square gallery, individuals have discovered and been captivated by Ferdod’s distinctive artistic vision.
Currently, Ferdod’s artistic endeavors are directed towards creating large-scale activism paintings, channeling his talent as a powerful tool for social commentary. Simultaneously, he dedicates himself to commissions, collaborating with clients to bring their unique visions to life.
Ferdod Haghighi’s artistic expression transcends borders, inviting viewers into a realm where art and life intersect. Through his paintings and designs, he invites us to reflect on the human condition, prompting dialogue and contemplation.
