“Iran, past , present & future”
Oil, Wax & Ink on Canvas, Size 6′.0″ x 16′.0″, 2017-2019

Description: Based on conceptual ideas. “Iran past, present & future” is depicting a story of hope and struggles. Positive forces as well as an uncertain clarity for the future of Iran is the narrative. Symbolism is used in forms of each subject. Three figures are depicted based on historical drawings seen in the style of Persian art known as “Persian miniatures” Birds in flight and a large Peacock are symbolism of hope for Irans future. The entire setting is set in a Vineyard showing grapes and foliage in a landscape perspective. This represents Iran’s past in producing wine when it was legal prior to the 1979 revolution. (Before the Islamic Revolution in 1979, there were up to 300 wineries in Iran; now there are none. ) A college student is seen reading a book while his body is becoming transparent with the background. Symbolizing a lack of jobs for young educated Iranians entering the workforce. A plane is shown in flight releasing bombs each with the words , nationalism , ego , hate, control and oil written inside them. These words possess meanings in Irans current political position as the victim and the aggressor. This painting is to evoke thought both from a positive perspective and an emotional understanding of a complex history. Iran the beautiful , Iran the complicated , Iran the hope…
